Responsible for managing all aspects of a single large or multiple departments in conjunction with Sr. Distribution Center (DC) Management. Direct and manage associates in meeting workload objectives works in conjunction with other business partners as needed. Review and revise business practices to continuously improve operational standards thereby resulting in lowering the costs of operating the responsible departments.
Job Responsibilities
Performs the more complex general activities (e.g., troubleshooting).
Makes work assignments, schedules, and reviews work in progress.
Handles personnel actions including performance reviews and salary recommendations.
Improves and/or modifies standard procedures.
Assures adequate documentation/support of transactions and reports.
Supervises the daily routine activities of business or technical support or production team.
Receives and executes detailed direction on processes and procedures.
May coordinates work activities with other Supervisors.
Motivates resources to meet production or service standards.
Tactical situations outside of normal operating conditions are handled according to documented procedure and past practice.
Unfamiliar situations are escalated for a solution and documented for future reference.
With prescribed expectations, coordinates tactical resources and workload to meet standards.
Serves as a technical resource for development of future priorities.
Position Responsibilities
50% - Accountable for managing DC hourly associate s daily performance and consistently delegating responsibilities to DC leads and associates. Hold associates accountable and shares responsibility while enforcing objectives and timelines as set by the Manager DC Operations and the DC Director. Works with DC Leadership to utilize staff plan tool daily, select and train competent staff, and to provide performance coaching to develop job knowledge, skills, and abilities. Helps organizes area/s of responsibility to accomplish goals/objectives through well-designed, efficient work flows. Enforces the execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP s), safety requirements and housekeeping standards.
30% - Responsible for supporting a Continuous Improvement (CI) culture and provides consistent feedback to leads and associates. Reviews data from reports/audits and leads their area/s to achieve desired results. Perform staff planning analysis and coordinate appropriate scheduling and staffing for the area/s on a daily basis to meet payroll and Cost Per Unit (CPU) targets. Understands CPU, UPH, productivity and financial performance metrics that are required in their area/s. Champions the implementation of policies, procedures and training initiatives in the area/s of responsibility.
20% - Ensure that their workforce is fully utilized, cross trained, and maintained at levels that minimize payroll cost. Ensure fulltime associates maintain fulltime status and part-time associates should not become fulltime through unmanaged hours (i.e. quarterly average hours report). Identify, redeem, and manage out marginal performers using forced ranking metrics that are applied fairly and consistently. Implementing staffing (i.e. levels, rankings, and hours) &ensuring payroll targets are consistently met. Staffs area/s to operate efficiently while managing expenses to ensure meeting financial goals and objectives.
10% - Partner with Human Resources to ensure organizational health, associate relations, staffing, training and development, compensation and benefits and all policy, practices, are handled fairly, consistent and within a timely manner. Assures subordinates adhere to policies and practices. Executes prescribed methods for producing results and ensures effective administration of defined processes and programs to build a positive work environment and to improve morale.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor s degree in business or equivalent relevant experience with 3+ years experience in Retail logistics, warehousing and distribution.
Ability to lead others and ability to influence others without formal authority; excellent verbal & written communication skills; innovativeness; integrity and trust; results oriented; action biased/self-starter; deals with ambiguity; business acumen and organizational savvy; customer focus; good listening skills; excellent analytical ability; outstanding planning and negotiation skills.
Ability to improve existing systems/procedures which periodically result in new ideas or approaches of considerable significance.
Proficient in MS Office Suite, specifically MS Access and MS Excel and knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) software applications.
Must be able to stand a minimum of eight hours and continuously lift, push or pull up to 40 lbs, 60% percent of the time during a shift.
