DWR is responsible for maintaining and operating the SWP, which is the largest state-built and operated multipurpose water and power system in the United States.  The 701 miles of canals and pipelines provide drinking water for 23 million people and irrigation for 750,000 acres of farmland.  The SWP also provides power generation, year-round recreation, flood protection and helps maintain Delta water quality.
Position Description:
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join us as part of the DWR team helping to manage and protect California's water resources.  Under direction, incumbents perform a broad range of complex mechanical maintenance and repair work on large hydroelectric generating and pumping plant equipment for the State Water Project.
Salary:  $6,215 - $7,704 per month.
Starting salary depends on qualifying experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
All applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for this examination by the written test date.
Either I
Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a hydroelectric plant mechanic or machinist. (Apprentices who are within six months of completion of their apprenticeship may be admitted to the examination, but they must present evidence of completion of their apprenticeship before they can be appointed.)
Or II
One year of journeyperson experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment used in hydroelectric generating or pumping plants.
