SUMMARY The Facility Supervisor will assist with the overall operation and maintenance of regional water or wastewater treatment facilities. This includes assisting with operations, maintenance, operator training and service. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned. • Assists with overall operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facility by helping to ensure that facility complies with permit limits set by RWQCB and DOHS. • Provides functional supervision of Operator-In-Training, Operators, and Maintenance personnel. This includes established priorities, determining duties, scheduling work and providing training as needed. • Observes and monitors equipment and operations daily; assesses problems, diagnoses equipment failures; checks water well, lift station(s), blowers, etc. • Orders supplies as needed in order to maintain inventory. • Performs daily analyses of effluent samples; makes any adjustments necessary to keep facility within permit limits; sets up sampler for required regulatory samples; delivers samples to lab to testing. • Maintains daily log of data for RWQCB and DOHS reports as well as maintenance records. • Assists with scheduling and performing routine preventative maintenance on equipment. • Coordinates with engineers and customers to discuss work needed, resolve problems, and ensure that all maintenance operations are handles efficiently and are performed to established standards. • Visually inspects and test machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment. • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction, and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine. • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or related parts, following specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools. • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes, • Monday through Friday Operations plus weekend duty and on-call • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment. • Contacts vendors, contractors, engineers and regulatory agency personnel as necessary • Assists Project Manager in the areas of financial management and customer relations • May fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures QUALIFICATIONS Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Requires knowledge normally acquired through attainment of a High School Diploma or GED plus advances skills and technical knowledge of wastewater treatment attained by specialized courses and on-the-job training. Experience : Two of more years of experience in wastewater operations and treatment. Years of experience based on the Grade of Certification that has been attained.) CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have an active State Water Resources Control Board Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator License and must be able to obtain Grade III within 24 months.
